Shrink Rap is the brainchild of Dr. Margarita Gurri. She is a vivacious, humorous, and impassioned speaker and consultant to professionals and parents. She is an expert in interpersonal communication, parenting, child development, and ethics. In times of crisis or preventive growth, Shrink Rap offers a variety of services. Our services and programs are designed to address the specific needs of each client.
 
A sought-after speaker, Dr. Margarita, as kids call her, is known for her vibrant and highly energetic teaching style as keynoter, presenter, and trainer. She has been a featured guest on radio programs including NPR. Her contributions have been recognized by the Governor’s Crime Prevention Award and the Outstanding American Award. Her client list includes professional and parent groups, families, police and fire departments, child protective services, local governments, school systems, and faith communities.

Credentials

Dr. Margarita has been a psychologist in private practice, Shrink Rap, Inc. since 1984, holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas, and has done postgraduate training at the University of Maryland and the Menninger Institute. Years of doing psychotherapy, raising two daughters and a few foster children have forged an experience in conflict management and organization consultation. She is licensed by the Florida State Board of Psychologists and is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor, and the Florida Psychoanalytical Society. She has served on local and national boards, founded a not-for-profit organization, and been on the faculties of universities. Dr. Margarita currently teaches corporate groups for Barry University.
